2025 Water polo Kickoff Picnic
On Thursday, we were blessed with great weather and a large turnout for our kickoff picnic. Old friends, new faces, and just the right amount of anxious enthusiasm as we lean into the 2025 season. For those who couldn’t make it, sorry we missed you, but here’s a bit of what happened.
Coach Zac gave a bit of a history breakdown of the team and what he expects of the athletes, which includes attendance, respect for others, commitment to training, getting good rest, and eating plenty of PB&J sandwiches
Zac also emphasized the importance of getting all the paperwork turned in, including athlete sports physical release, parent commitments, and all within the initial packet sent out via email.
Our WBA board president, Liz Palmer spoke about family and team legacies that go back nearly 100 years, and how the Water Polo and Swim Team programs rely 100% on the contributions of fundraising and volunteerism. The goal is to maintain a culture of contribution to not only maintain these programs, but build this into the most premiere aquatics program around.
We also tried to work on the boys public speaking by teaching them how to speak to a crowd without a microphone. We we also surprised to find out how many of our teenagers like reading and writing, much to our surprise.
All in all, it was a fun event. We reconnected with a lot of families after not seeing them since last school year, and met a bunch of new anxious and excited new families eager to figure out where to be next.
The best answer to that question is to check the Calendar.
